Justice Vaidyanathan noted the extramarital relationship of a husband cannot be construed as abetment of wife's suicide in the absence of proper proof for provocation. The judge made the observations in an appeal moved by Manickam of Attur in Salem whose wife committed suicide by jumping into a well along with their 18-month-old daughter due to his affair.
