Defending the FIR lodged against Asthana and a DSP of the CBI, CBI director Alok Verma said serious allegations need to be “thoroughly investigated without any bias”. He said FIR was registered after following due procedure and quoted then ASG PS Narasimhahad and Sana's corruption allegations against Asthana to oppose special director's plea to quash the FIR.
